Meet Michelle Demers, Founder of Get It Done! Clubs

What do whales, ice cream, non-profits, entrepreneurship, forestry, business coaching, coworking spaces, and online communities have in common? They all have been stops on my very windy career path.

From the time I can remember, I’ve had a love of animals and nature. My vision was to be the next Jane Goodall, so I majored in zoology and environmental studies at the University of Vermont. I interned on the whale watch boats at the New England Aquarium, and I spent a semester abroad in Baja California, Mexico studying marine mammals and island ecology in the Sea of Cortez.

My first “real” job was as a fundraising assistant for The New Jersey Conservation Foundation, a NPO preserving farmland and open space. I saw, first-hand, the struggle non-profits face raising money for their causes, and I thought there had to be a better way. I found Ben & Jerry’s Double-Dip: How to Run a Values-Led Business and Make Money, Too; it was my first real awareness of a “socially-responsible” business. I was so inspired, I decided to get my MBA at Rutgers University.

During business school, I discovered (and fell in love with) entrepreneurship and business coaching; I took classes at CoachVille and ran their online Higher Ground Leadership community. In the years following, I started and ran multiple businesses: a forestry consulting firm, an internship program development company, and my own business coaching practice.

Like many serial entrepreneurs, I’m often doing more than one thing at once! I worked as Director of Marketing for Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest (Massachusetts) on the team that raised $2M to build the Paul Celluci gymnasium. I also served as Interim Director of the Entrepreneur Innovation Center at Framingham State University. FSU is a member of the Workbar network of coworking spaces, which gave me great insights into coworking communities and culture.

But for most of the past 14 years, I have been specializing in helping other coaches and consultants with branding, client development, content marketing, and online course creation. A recurring theme for many coaches is helping clients actually do the work and get results. So, I turned my attention to building online communities around “success coaching” and the idea for Get It Done! Clubs was born!

With Get It Done! Clubs’ sustainable success approach, sustainability is a core brand value and a universal theme tying together my passion for socially-responsible business and sustainable solutions for people and the planet.

On a personal note …

I’m mom to Birch, my beloved Tibetan terrier, and I’m a doting auntie to 4 amazing nephews (ages 2-9). You can usually find me on the local hiking trails, singing karaoke (a little Alanis, Journey, any requests?), or coaching kids’ soccer. As a foodie, I love trying different restaurants and cuisines as well as being a local tourist in my home city of Boston and the New England region. I enjoy spin (indoor cycling), yoga, photography, and practicing my rusty Spanish.

On my Love My Life List: learning French (my father’s native language), a lot of travel, horseback riding lessons, and writing a book. I look forward to meeting you through the Clubs and helping you achieve sustainable success!
